Artist's Comment:
Liberty Under a Cloud - 9/12/01 is a photo from the last roll of 35mm film I ever shot. The clouds derive from the smoldering remains of the WTC. Our Lady of the Harbor was briefly dwarfed by these clouds, but a greater light shines through. I know a decent photo is not supposed to need an explanation, but I wanted to share with you my understanding of this shot. I was about 30 yards away from the WTC when the second plane hit, and I wanted to share my perceptions of the aftermath of that day with a wider audience. I am grateful for the opportunity to do so. This particular image is a mediore scan of a 5" x 7" photo. I am having a better computer image worked up directly from the negative.
